Symantec Customer Experience Center, Mountainview, CA

Winner of the IES Illumination Award of Merit in 2020, this project was created with IIDA Fellow Collin Burry from Gensler and finished in 2019. Upon entering the refurbished lobby of Symantec's headquarters, visitors navigate a cube-like passage that mimics a secure vault. bld designed a dynamic color changing programmable display inspired by infinity mirrors, giving the tunnel walls a 3-D look of security bars and a mirrored ceiling that enhances the effect. Meeting rooms have double-walled exteriors with lights behind smoky glass, adding mystery. Dark surfaces help focus attention on presentations and create a dramatic atmosphere in this engaging customer center.
