Inga Birkenstock is a Senior Lighting Designer and Project Manager, bringing over 30 years of experience in the architectural design industry. She is a professional member of both IALD and IESNA, as well as an affiliate member of IIDA. With her 20+ years of Lighting Design and 10 years' experience in Architectural / Interior Design, Inga is a visionary leader while integrating the most cutting-edge lighting technology and design into architecture.

Trained in Philadelphia, Inga has been relentless in her search for challenging opportunities to demonstrate her vision of lighting as an artistic as well as a technical tool. While based in New York, San Diego, Houston, and the San Francisco Bay area, Inga honed her knowledge, skills, and abilities as a creative and responsive design industry partner.

Opening bld (Birkenstock Lighting Design) in 2011, Inga brought her passion for lighting and interior design and created a successful and unique company. Inga is laser-focused on exceeding client expectations, bringing projects in on budget and on time while winning awards for clients.

Within the last decade of bld's existence, Inga has had the honor of earning 18 prestigious lighting design awards, including the most coveted national award, the Edwin F. Guth Memorial Award for Interior Lighting Design for the SFOT3 BAE project. In addition, Inga’s projects have won her clients’ numerous awards for Interior Design and Architectural Design with her contributions.

Inga is well known for her creative thinking and highly detailed design collaboration with the architectural design team. The end result she strives for is always a seamless, sometimes invisible integration into the architecture and the interior design, painting space with light, highlighting features and materiality, and capturing the essence of the client’s vision.

Inga's lighting talent spans from Corporate Headquarters, Executive Centers, Repositioning, TI, Campus, Core and Shell, Cruise Ship, Educational, Healthcare, Hospitality, Residential, Retail, and Transportation facility design.

Inga has worked with some of the world's most iconic brands such as Apple, Amazon, EBay, Google, Samsung, Symantec, E. & J. Gallo Winery, and Nokia to name a few.
